I hope you are staying cool during the hot, steamy days of August.
I’ve been trying to stay cool and recover after our whirlwind vacation to Washington D.C. and New York. Check out last month’s blog where I shared our experience in photos. It was a wonderful experience!
However, once I got back home and rested for a bit, I was happy to have something else to focus on and that was my blog and my YouTube Channel.
Starting a YouTube Channel has been the best hobby for me. When my children left home to start their lives and I retired, I really needed a new hobby to keep me busy. I had immersed myself into my kids’ lives to ensure they were healthy, happy, and independent adults, which took a lot of time and effort.
But, once they moved into the world and their chosen professions and I decided to retire to preserve my health, I felt deflated and a little depressed. So, I quickly started my writing life and content creating, which has been a game changer for me.
Here are five ways starting a YouTube can enhance your life over 40.
- Creativity and Passion: Age truly is just a number when it comes to creativity. Whether you’re sharing gardening tips, cooking adventures, or book reviews, there’s an audience eager to hear your unique perspective. Now, I’m able to share my writing life and continue to help new writers with my expertise from 25 years as a writing instructor.
- Community: YouTube isn’t just about videos; it’s about building connections. Engage with viewers through comments, live streams, and social media. The bonds you create are priceless. I’ve had people reach out to me with such kindness. These are subscribers that I would have never met if not for my YouTube presence.
- Learning New Skills: Embrace technology! Filming, editing—these skills are within your reach. It’s never too late to become a tech-savvy guru. Wow! Have I learned! I’ve created new brain cells from learning so many new tech related to my channel.
- Success Stories: Check out creators, like the Silver Fox Squad and Tech Grandpa. They prove that age doesn’t limit your potential on YouTube. I love how so many over 50 creators are becoming popular and bringing in thousands of subscribers and views! It’s so priceless! ☺️
- Practical Tips: Grab your smartphone or an affordable camera, explore user-friendly editing tools, and optimize your content for search engines. Your videos deserve to shine! 🌟 You can do this! It’s going to really enhance your life.
