New Beginnings in My Author Life

Hello Friends!

Happy March! Spring is right around the corner, which means new beginnings! I’m so excited at the new opportunities that this year has brought to my life.

2025 is my year of new beginnings with my author life. Finally, I feel that I’m on track with the direction I want to take my writing. It’s been a world wind of events so let me start at the beginning.

In January, we spent the month planning my book launch party for February. The event was a hit.

We held it at a historic school that was built in the 1920s for African American students by Julius Rosenwald, the founder of Sears and Roebuck, who went into communities to build schools for black students who needed schools during segregation. My uncle, a historian, said that Rosenwald went into black communities and partnered with the community members to work together to raise the funds to build the schools.

Mr. Vernon, who is the main character in my book, loved the school and the land, so we decided to have the book launch there. We decorated the venue in the book’s signature theme color and ordered food from an amazing caterer, along with an incredible musician. We sent out invitations, and our friends and family turned out and supported us.

We had a book signing, and our guests exceeded our expectations and bought so many books that we ran out of most of our stock. What a great problem to have! We are very thankful!

The response has been amazing, and we are thankful for the community’s support.

Here are more pictures of our February book launch party!

I just want to remind you that even over 50 dreams can come true. I’m so excited to have my authorpreneur life and business off the ground.

Don’t give up on your dreams! Keep moving forward. You may have to get out of your comfort zone, but that’s okay too. We’ve spent so many years coloring in the lines. It’s time to shake things up and have some fun!

Self-publishing a book is no small feat, but it’s gratifying. I hope these insights help you on your journey to bring your story to life. Remember, every challenge is a learning opportunity. Keep pushing forward, and happy writing!
