Living a Creative Life

Hello Friends!

This year is a monumental year for me because I will turn 60 years young. I say “young” because my creative life has given me a new purpose; therefore, I feel young and vibrant when I create.

My heart feels so happy when I write, use my creativity to construct YouTube videos and work on my website.

I am working in my creative space.

However, in a way, aging is a little scary, but I’m thankful that I could see 60 because some people have not had the opportunity.

So, I’m thankful for my life. Also, I’m happy that I can live my creative life on my terms. With a budget-friendly lifestyle, my husband and I could retire early, which I will do a video on one day.

Recently, I had someone close to me pass, and I know that their life ended too soon. I think the person had a broken heart and had lost their zest for living.

I don’t want that to happen to me or anyone. I want to live my creative life, try new things, accomplish some of the goals that I have with my writing life, wake up every morning looking forward to life, and just have fun.

So why are these things important? It’s important to live a creative life over 50 because, as research shows, when you have a positive attitude as you get older, it enhances your life. It gives you a better quality of life.

I’m loving my creative life!

Recently, I was listening to a podcast with Dr. Sunjay Gupta and the scientist specifically said that their research has shown that a person’s attitude can determine their quality of life and how long they live. So, for me, I want to keep a positive attitude of looking for new things that will enhance my life.

Also, there’s a new study that found that optimism can extend your life. It’s amazing how our mindset can determine our quality of life.

My 88-year-old dad has such an optimistic outlook on life. He says that he loves talking to people.

My dad and I are enjoying our visit. We have early morning coffee chats!

I want a good quality of life. My mom died at 62 years young. One thing she said when she found out that her cancer was terminal, she said that she and my dad had just started to travel and do things.

That broke my heart that she was not going to live her creative life and travel and have new experiences after a lifetime of pouring into her children and family.

My mom loved her life, and I know she had no regrets. I can’t question God, but I can use my days to savor every moment and live a creative life.

So, what is living a creative life? One author put it like this “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, making mistakes, and having fun.” Thank you, Mary Lou Cook, for reminding us what the ingredients are to living a full and creative life!

Well, I’ll close for now! Be kind to someone today. Our world needs it!

Best,

Shelly
